Tuscany wedding venues

Stories, venues and destination weddings in Tuscany.

Every venue tells a different story. Through real weddings, this journal explores some of the most beautiful wedding locations across Tuscany and Umbria.

Why Tuscany is a dream destination wedding location for photography and film

Tuscany is one of the most sought-after destination wedding locations in the world, not only because of its historic villas, vineyards and landscapes, but because of the quality of light that defines the region throughout the year.

For photographers and filmmakers, Tuscany offers a visual richness that is difficult to replicate elsewhere. The rolling hills create natural layers in the landscape, historic architecture provides texture and depth, and the changing light from sunrise to sunset constantly transforms every location.

Many wedding venues are surrounded by olive groves, cypress trees and open countryside, allowing couples to experience different settings within a short distance. A portrait session can move from a Renaissance villa to a vineyard, a historic courtyard or a panoramic hilltop without ever leaving the property.

The region is particularly beautiful during the late afternoon and evening hours. The warm tones of the Tuscan sun soften colours, create dimension and produce the kind of atmosphere that naturally enhances both photography and film. Rather than relying on elaborate staging, many of the most memorable images are created simply by placing people within the landscape.

For destination weddings, Tuscany also offers an important advantage: guests experience much more than a wedding day. Historic cities such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena become part of the story, creating opportunities for welcome dinners, multi-day celebrations and meaningful moments beyond the ceremony itself.

As a documentary wedding filmmaker working throughout Tuscany, I am constantly drawn to venues that combine beautiful light, strong visual character and authentic experiences. The locations below are among the venues that best represent what makes a Tuscan wedding unique.
