Tenuta di Artimino Wedding

JOYCE & ENGIN

An elegant celebration among Renaissance gardens, historic architecture and panoramic views over the Florentine hills.

The Venue

Few wedding venues in Tuscany combine history, landscape and architecture quite like Tenuta di Artimino.

At the heart of the estate stands Villa Medicea La Ferdinanda, built in 1596 for Ferdinando I de' Medici and designed by Bernardo Buontalenti. Known as the "Villa of the Hundred Chimneys", the residence overlooks the rolling hills of Montalbano, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the medieval village of Artimino.

Since 2013, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage site dedicated to the Medici Villas and Gardens of Tuscany.

For couples looking for a wedding venue near Florence that combines Renaissance heritage with authentic Tuscan scenery, Artimino offers one of the most distinctive settings in the region.

The Wedding

Joyce and Engin travelled to Tuscany with family and friends to celebrate their wedding surrounded by the landscape that had inspired them from afar.

The day unfolded between the historic rooms of the villa, panoramic views over the olive groves and an outdoor ceremony framed by the elegant façade of La Ferdinanda.

What stood out most was the contrast between the scale of the venue and the intimacy of the moments. A quiet glance before the ceremony. The final adjustments to a wedding dress illuminated by soft window light. A walk through the olive trees as the afternoon sun began to fall across the hills.

As evening arrived, the celebrations continued under the Tuscan sky before ending with fireworks above the estate.

Practical Information

Location

Ceremony options

Tenuta di Artimino lies among the rolling hills of Montalbano, just thirty minutes from Florence. At its heart stands Villa Medicea La Ferdinanda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site commissioned by Ferdinando I de' Medici in 1596. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the medieval village of Artimino, the estate offers one of Tuscany's most iconic landscapes.

The villa offers a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, from Italian gardens and panoramic terraces to elegant frescoed halls. Couples can design a celebration that moves naturally through different spaces while maintaining the atmosphere of a private Tuscan estate.

Reception spaces

From aperitifs overlooking the hills to candlelit dinners in historic halls and celebrations beneath the stars, Artimino offers a seamless flow throughout the wedding day. The estate comfortably accommodates both intimate gatherings and larger destination weddings while maintaining a sense of exclusivity.

Accessibility

Located approximately thirty minutes from Florence Airport and easily reachable from Florence, Pisa and Tuscany's major destinations, Artimino combines countryside privacy with convenient access for international guests. Accommodation is available throughout the estate and nearby medieval village.

UNESCO World Heritage Estate

Joyce and Engin chose Artimino for its unique blend of history and landscape. Their wedding unfolded between the historic rooms of Villa La Ferdinanda, the olive groves surrounding the estate and a ceremony overlooking the Tuscan hills. As the sun set across the vineyards, family and friends gathered to celebrate before ending the evening beneath fireworks lighting the night sky above the villa.

Why we love this venue

What makes Artimino truly special is the relationship between architecture and landscape. The grandeur of Villa Medicea La Ferdinanda never overwhelms the experience; instead, it frames it. From the panoramic terraces and Renaissance staircases to the olive groves, vineyards and views stretching across the Montalbano hills, every part of the estate feels authentically Tuscan. For destination weddings, few venues offer such a powerful combination of history, scenery and atmosphere.
